I've been keeping steady at a pretty good clip, averaging about 1K per night while on vacation (Tues-Friday this week ), and when I'm not on vacation, which is pretty much any other time I've been averaging about 500-600 wpn (words per night). It's strange, this sudden urge to write. I've been dry for like years and then suddenly the flood gates have opened or the fire hose of crap has been turned on and I can't stop, or more likely I am afraid to stop because God forbid I can't start up again. Damn you/Thank you Sherlock BBC!!!

It's interesting, writing fan fiction, I've never really done it before and I now I get it...I think... I love that it's like it's all there for you, and the folks who read it all have a common vocabulary and can slip right into the world with you, we already know the characters act, speak, look like, their past history quirks, we know the settings, the world, even the soundtrack sometime (well unless you've gone completely AU).  In a way you can be shorthanded to some extent. I realized that I really didn't describe at all what Sherlock and John looked like, because well, we already know...(makes me feel a bit lazy though...)

I let my friend read ASIF and she has no idea about the Sherlock BBC fandom and my God, she must've been like who the hell are these people and why are you writing Sherlock Holmes porn and why do they have mobile phones... and what is wrong with you! (oh god I don't even want to know...)

I'm in the middle of The Doctor in the Boot, which is a follow-up to A Study in Frustration and my God this has been a slog. ASIF was like a really easy process and I can see that in the writing, that it flowed pretty fast,  so this new one is MY Study in Frustration!! The goal of this piece is simple really, ACTUALLY write a follow up to something. Easier said than done :-)

I've got it plotted out, I've got about 3K written, after throwing away 1K and I've got half of it finished.  I nailed my self to my chair yesterday from like 9PM to 2AM with the singular task of getting the fucking words on the page. I don't know why this bit was so hard. I had it outlined, I even had all the components mapped out but when I sat down to write I was like *FACE HIT WALL*... so basically it took me about 5 hours to write 1000 words... mind you there was lots of distractions, though less than usual as I'm in a hotel with crap internet access, but I suppose it's good that it's just on the page.

I know it's not good, it doesn't have to be at this point, it just has to be WRITTEN. The good making part comes after the brain dump. sometimes I mix up the order of this, but I've been good as of late.  If I can just get the characters to the finish line I will have succeeded.

We;ll I shouldn't be whining, I mean I've always know that writing is hard... I just want it to be not a bit not good...

*sigh*
