So I read my story over last night, in it's semi finished draft state and then I panicked. Hmm it seems that the thing that's wrong with my story is... the story!!! *sigh* Well no, but the motivation and large chunks aren't sitting right, and if your main character seems like something is off, you'd best start looking at your prose and the situation you put them in. I think I was forcing the characters into the situation a bit too much and it shows, so I need to go back, remove some bits that wouldn't have happened, make John's reactions more John and make sure I keep his character true (well true to me true) as we all have our versions of these characters... and gutting this will make the batshit crazy scenario I came up with, less batshit crazy... I think it's okay to be in a insane situation if you can root the character reactions in reality... So back to the draft of pain! *sigh*
