Juju Day 3:
Total: 106
Yes, one hundred and six words were written today, after hours of melodramatic hand wringing and fits of sleepiness. Juju has left the building... Lol, at this rate it will take me 300 years to finish... :-) I think I needed to just break through the initial barrier of OH MY GOD! What have I done thinking I can do this crazy thing like writing!? But I dig my first paragraph, and I feel calmer having done it... Only 99,894 words to go!
I got my palm read on the way home from work. She seemed to be kind of way off the mark (kind of way??) ...LOL. But I dig the strange looking old men who hang outside of the shop with their big black fedoras. That part is cool, the reading, kind of meh... She kept on trying to upsell me some crystals. I was like, um no thank you, I've got a lot of crystals... and no thank you I don't need my energy cleansed. I'm rather okay thanks...
AnjaliD is one step closer to writing Beeblock fic, so I'm celebrating quietly... (If you're reading this, yes, I'm blogging your Beeblock fic progress...) Yesterday we made a trek up to northern Seattle to see Carlos Ruiz Zafon speak about his new book The Prisoner of Heaven... The talk was in this weird mini mall that smelled like a gym... there actually was a gym in the place, but immediately the odd scent kind of skewed my perception of the place, then we went upstairs into this strange used bookstore/food court/performance space? The whole place had this air of decay about it... And then the author spent way too much time talking about his dislike of Twitter and Facebook. The median age of the atendees seemed to be like 55 so most could relate... I almost fell asleep.I did perk up when he started talking about his process. I can listen to process talk all day... But although the talk was meh, going on this odd little adventure to this odd little out of place bookstore thing was nice.
So tomorrow, I will once again attempt to get this floppy kite of a book off the ground... I think it will take awhile to get wind underneath it, just need to get over the anxiety of actually doing it... But writing my wee paragraph rooted me a little in my character which will need to happen if I'm going to follow him down the rabbit hole... I think some daytime handwriting is in order to get this going...

Date: 2012-07-13 09:42 pm (UTC)I've never had my palm read, what is it like?
That gym/bookstore place sounds very interesting. I love discovering new places, too.
So is this your...no it can't be the NanoWriMo thing, that's 50,000 words. What is Juju?

Date: 2012-07-13 09:50 pm (UTC)Juju is my attempt at an original novel. Putting the Beeblock crossover aside for now and trying to see where this one will take me :-) Attempting to chase after the muses... :-) How goes your fic??

Date: 2012-07-13 11:13 pm (UTC)Chasing muses...that's an entertaining image. :) Especially after the TED talk I just heard: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/elizabeth_gilbert_on_genius.html
Best of luck, break a leg, etc! Are you not going to be doing any fanfic during this time? I'll miss it...although the majority of our interactions have been through these kinds of posts, so I guess I won't miss you. :)
My fic is where it was the last time I posted. I think I'm repeating something I did with my other longer piece: taking a break right before the end/climax/whatever. Last time it was about a month before I sat down and wrote two, alternate, quite fun endings, so I'm going to give myself another week, and then consider trying to end it.

Date: 2012-07-13 11:30 pm (UTC)I'm glad you're continuing your fic!! I'm still at the front of the line for this one :-) and yes sometimes stepping away is good, then reading it all fresh and the ending will be there.
Thanks for the TED talk link, I'll watch it when I get home!

Date: 2012-07-14 12:06 am (UTC)Yes, I'll be sure to post progress/finishing/the agonies of beta-ing.
Please do, it's one of the best I've seen, and it talks a bit about process, which I believe you like. ;)
