Well Juju is officially longer than my latest JohnLock fic!  Yeay to that...

It feels like I wrote more than 652 today, but I got over a bug hump of action and it's flowing nicely now. (And by nicely I mean, less painfully) I had six fixed points on Juju's path to write and I've done 2, and the final four kind of follow a progression so I think the end of chapter two will be doable in this week.  My goal is to write a chapter a week. Not sure if that's possible but it's a goal and I like making goals, then a weekend of Johnlock to buffer my feeble mind, and give me much needed sexytimes to write about. I think there are no sexytimes in Juju... 

Wrote on the bus to and from work and at lunchtime and a bit at the desk in the notebook.  Both Juju and 3:50AM notes. I've been getting random bits of Sub!John headspace which I'm transferring onto the page for further use. Maybe in this story, maybe next. I have no idea, just nailing down what he wants... Still figuring that shit out...

All of the things I wrote in Juju today came out of nowhere. I'm trying to subscribe to the practice of "have an action outline but then do whatever the fuck inbetween". So random things happen but all the action points are met. Have no idea if any of it works, but it seems to be me still figuring out Juju's mind so I'm just going with it. It's been a bit challenging writing a character that's so dead inside, but that will change with the spark that is coming soon. A quiet rebellion. Writing this kind of makes me nervous. Constantly beating down the self-doubt beast. I just have to believe in this world and the things within... 

If I manage to finish Chapter 2 before Sunday, I'm going to go back and work over Chapter 1 as a reward. The thought of rewriting a 100K shitty first draft is kind of terrifying so I'm doing a bit of clean up as I go. It gives me a week between looking at a chapter again which gives it a little away space, and as I sort out Juju as I write forward, bits have been added backwards if that makes sense. I cut some wee bits from chapter two and shoved them into chapter 1 because I only just discovered them today and they needed to move back in to build up the foundation... so that's the crazy plan...

It's so cold here. I had to turn the heat on last night I was freezing in my room. So many crazy dreams. I dreamed I had to step over alligators and I also came into a pile of gold coins and I remember thinking. I can quit my job now and just write... It's in my subconscious now... *sigh*

Hey, 650 is decent. I remember you coming in with much less just the other week...Yay for less painful progress!

Also, if this is supposed to be an 100,000 word fic, and you've done 2 out of 6 goals with (I'm assuming) less than 10,000 words on the page...Are you sure this is going to be a really big story? Sorry if I'm fanning the flames here, just curious as to how you're navigating this.

I also love the rambling mess one gets when trying to describe a process without giving away the plot... Your poor protagonist, though. He sounds a bit down atm.

Your brain is very different from mine in the characterization department. I sit down, and I write for a block of time, and in that block I usually focus on one thing, maybe two: backstory, characterization, moving the story forward, etc. Having two stories going at once? That would be really massively confusing, I think. At least you can sort them out...

LOL! yeah it's hard to talk around the story... Ah the 2 out of 6 goals were for chapter 2! He gets six set of coordinates more or less and I've gotten him through 2 of them :-) I have about 20 chapters planned so 100K is a rough guess...

I thought doing 2 stories at once would be confusing too but they are SO radically different from each other that it's not that bad. And it keeps me sane :-)

It's interesting your take on characterization. For me it all kind of lumps together into one big thing. backstory / characterization and moving the story forward are all part of the same lump...

Yes, backstory/characterization/moving the story are all inter-related, but I have to separate them because they would all otherwise be the story, and sometimes you don't want people to know exactly what a character has gone through, or that you have really weird lists of their kinks, and stuff.

Ah I get what you're saying now, I had read it before as while you were writing the story, you somehow separated out the three... I do the same thing as well. I do a lot of characterization stuff outside of the story, I have pages of Sub!John train of thought just so I can try to figure out where he is in a particular story... and kinks... I got a list of that too... :-D

Juju is going to be my attempt at writing something that would be for the selling, if I, well... can ever get it past the writing, re-writing, editing x17 phases :-D Right now it's all about the shitty first draft... *sigh* well actually it's just about finishing chapter 2.
