WTF Second POV person? Maybe? Juju +610

What a teeth pulling day for writing. Luckily I rallied at the end, but Jesus was it overwrought and ridiculous. I've been in the self-doubt funk for the past 2 days but luckily, I can write through it because I know it's pointless. It just takes me longer to get to the task at hand. I orbit around the computer tearing through Tumblr and all of the places I SHOULDN'T be looking at because of distractions and it takes me forever to get to the writing. Like do I need to see another piece NSFW Johnlock fanart... It seems so!
But anywho. Got paranoid about my lack of outlining prowess. I have a basic chapter outline and before I hit each chapter I do a kind of action/scene outline and then I go to town. I did one for chapter 3 as I pretty much know how it's all going to play out. What scares me is... well I'm not so sure about chapter 4.
Hrm, looking at my outline it seems I have 16 not 20 chapters mapped out. But suddenly now, there's a part of me who wants to throw in another POV character. Dizzy. He comes in at the end of the story and plays a big part of the second story, and his existence, the fact that he even IS in this world is pivotal to the world that I'm writing... I'm so ahead of myself now I need to be pulled off the cliff, but I almost want to start telling his story along side juju's, and run it parallel until they finally show up in the same place at the end... But that would make this beast twice as long (maybe, maybe not) but it would also open up a whole other side of the world and the goings on and levels of politicking of an entirely different class that Juju would never see directly... and the other POV is as interesting to me as my first POV character... ugh... They are both on parallel journeys of self discovery and autonomy... ugh, two men in a hole...
I mean I'd never try to George RR Martin it with like 2 million POV's but even two POV's might be too much or unnecessary. Don't know yet. I'm just thinking on the page now...
Obviously I have no idea what I'm doing... I need to sleep on this.. But on the good side. Juju is so close to the end of chapter two. He's just made a really careless mistake and there's no way he's going to get to where he needs to be when he needs to be there... He is more or less screwed... and so am I with this whole second POV thing.
I am so fucked...

Date: 2012-07-27 01:24 am (UTC)If there's one thing I've learned from writing and improvising knitting patterns, it's that you just have to keep going. If something doesn't work, you can fix it later. If you really want to write a second POV, I don't see the point in denying yourself. (Personally, I think it sounds like a cool idea.)
I do not understand this "outlining" of which you speak, so I can't comment. :)
NSFW Johnlock fanart is always applicable...and now I want links.
