Big Brat: Day 11
Chapter 2 +502
Total 2813
So I kind of knew it was coming, but I axed Chapter 1. Needed to go. I think Kurt Vonnegut mentioned something about starting a story as close to the action as possible and getting out soon after. I've always kind of liked that idea. No need to ramble about just get to the fucking point. I think I wrote Chapter 1 as a way to feel out the story, and get the ball rolling, but once I sorted out (hopefully) where the story needs to start I could remove the extraneous bits. So I've started this story in... four different places now searching for the true north of a start. I even underwrote the last one today, finally finding (hopefully) the correct setting.
Yesterday I recovered all of my old writing, I also realized that I didn't write anything between 2006 and 2012 when I was hit in the face with fandom. So wow, thanks for that fandom. Though a part of me wants to run headfirst into a wall for being blocked that long, but well, hopefully I'm past that. It's been a good year for writing. And I found a SF short story I got 2/3rds of the way through that is itching for an end.
I also realized that I need to whine less and write more, so I'm getting on that as well. Trying to see how 500+ words a day feels. (With spread sheets and everything, yo.) Right now it feels like ass as I've had 2 hours of sleep and I'm on the other side of the US and jet-lagged. But I got them done, so... good.
Yes I've lost words but I've gained some direction. Chapter 2 needs a good underwriting, so I'll get on that tomorrow Balancing family vacation with writing shall be interesting. At least there will be good turkey-time, and the attack dog only tried to bite me once! YAY! The other attack dog has an extensive stuffed animal collection and she looks less then threatening when she's carting around a stuffed badger all the time. :-)
